Awards roundup
It’s been a busy awards season for us at Quindaro Press. While we’re proud of Diane for writing an accessible biography for the general public, it is, after all, the very first biography of a public figure who played a key role in U.S. history. We were delighted that a number of prominent scholars in the field of women’s history were willing to read Revolutionary Heart and give it their endorsement.
The latest endorsement comes in the form of a WILLA Literary Award from an academic consortium, Women Writing the West. Diane’s book has been named the winner in the 2007 competition for scholarly nonfiction. “Awarded annually for outstanding literature featuring women's stories set in the West, the WILLA Literary Awards are chosen by a distinguished panel of twenty-one professional librarians.”
In addition to honors as a Kansas Notable Book and ForeWord Book of the Year, Revolutionary Heart finished as a finalist in a number of competitions, including the Ben Franklin Award in the Autobiography/Biography/Memoir category. The Publishers Marketing Alliance announced those in New York City May 31, in connection with BookExpo America.
And last but not least, Diane’s book is this year’s selection for Read Across Lawrence, coming up this fall.
